They were: Viola Robinson from Acadia First Nation Reginald Maloney from Indian Brook First Nation Allister Marshall from Potlotek First Nation Katy McEwan from Membertou First Nation Two young people were awarded the Chief Noel Doucette Memorial Youth Achievement Award They were: Blayne Murray from Potlotek First Nation John Sam Julian from Waycobah Two university students were awarded $1,000 each through the Donald Marshall Sr. Memorial Scholarship. 		<description><![CDATA[The accomplishments of Nova Scotia Mi&#8217;kmaq youth and elders were acknowledged during Mi&#8217;kmaq Treaty Day celebrations in Halifax on Thursday. Eight people from six Mi&#8217;kmaq communities in the province received awards during the Treaty Day ceremony held at the World Trade and Convention Centre. &#8220;I would like to congratulate all of you here today who will receive an award this afternoon,&#8221; Premier Darrell Dexter said during his Treaty Day address. &#8220;Your communities and all Nova Scotians commend you for your accomplishments. You should feel proud of your contributions,&#8221; he said. Respected elders and educators Noel Doucette from Indian Brook and Helen Sylliboy from Eskasoni were the recipients of the Grand Chief Donald Marshall, Sr. Elder Award. The award was established in 1993 by then Premier John Savage to honour Mi&#8217;kmaq elders&#8217; contributions to their respective communities. Four young people were presented with the Chief Noel Doucette Memorial Youth Award. 		<description><![CDATA[Glenn Knockwood&#8217;s face lights up with eagerness and enthusiasm whenever he talks about Parkour. It&#8217;s an urban sport that combines the skills of running and rock-climbing with the philosophy and discipline of martial arts to overcome physical obstacles in one&#8217;s path. The 27-year-old Mi&#8217;kmaq man originally from the Indian Brook First Nation, N.S. took up the sport about six years ago after watching videos on the Internet of young people running while they performed extreme jumps over fences and climbed buildings. &#8220;For me, Parkour has helped me keep my own path even though there are pre-determined paths all set out around you,&#8221; Knockwood, who now lives in Halifax, told RadioGoogoo.ca in a recent interview. &#8220;The more you train in Parkour, the more you realize your greatest obstacle is your own mind,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The more you train in Parkour, the more you realize your greatest obstacle is your own mind.&#8221; &#8220;We tell ourselves what we can and cannot do and Parkour helps you realize you can do way more than you originally thought you could ever do and that&#8217;s what it&#8217;s done for me,&#8221; Knockwood said.
